Camp Compassion/ Project Love your Neighbor 
Camp Compassion is a cooperative effort between The Disaster Care Ministry at Beautiful Savior and Hope Lutheran Church in Winnie, TX
We are working to replace Sheet Rock and Insulation in homes in Winnie, Hamshire, and Fannet, TX that were flooded by Hurricane Harvey. We will be housing up to 20 volunteers at Hope Lutheran Church 1322 9th St, Winnie, TX 77665.
The focus of this project is an area that received 5 days of Heavy rainfall (one area recorded 54”) due Hurricane Harvey. There was major flooding in homes, businesses, churches, and schools. One community (Hamshire) had 90% of their homes flooded. The structures in this area of Winnie, Hamshire, and Fannett have been gutted and are now in the dry out phase. Very few homeowners in these communities carried flood insurance because They were not in the 100 yr. flood plain. This project is important because of it"s goal to expedite and advance the return of families to their homes.
